The company Via Salis Operations, which will maintain several kilometers of the D4 highway for nearly 25 years, has further expanded its fleet of maintenance vehicles. They now have six Scania P 410 vehicles, which can be equipped with various equipment, such as a snowplow system, a salting system, a sprinkler system with tanks and nozzles, as tipper trucks or as container carriers. This development was announced by Scania. The D4 motorway is financed and built by a French concession company, Via Salis (of the Vinci and Meridiam groups), in the framework of a public-private partnership (PPP). The aim of this project is to establish 32 kilometers of new highway sections and to renovate and equip 16 kilometers of existing sections between Příbram and Písek. The concession company will maintain the 48 kilometers that will be completed for another 24 years and four months.
The government will "lease" this highway, paying so-called availability fees for it. For this purpose, the Vinci group created the company Via Salis Operations, which has been taking care of the completed 16-kilometer section since the summer of 2021. The new section, more than 30 kilometers long, will open to motorists this December. "Thanks to Swedish technology and the reliability of Scania vehicles, road managers will be able to ensure the safe and passable condition of the new section of the highway, even in the harsh winter season," Scania said. The new center of Via Salis Operations will be located in the center for the maintenance and management of the highway (SSÚD), which was built right next to the D4 highway, near the Lety junction. Among other things, the traffic control center will be located here, as well as patrol and technical machines, tools for winter maintenance, a salt warehouse, and a salt solution production equipment. Scania P 410 vehicles provided to Via Salis Operations Five Scania P 410 vehicles with 6×4 axle configuration and one vehicle with 8×4 axle configuration were added to the fleet. The vehicles are powered by a 12.7-liter six-cylinder engine that produces up to 410 horsepower (302 kW) and 2,150 Nm of torque at 900-1,340 rpm. These vehicles are equipped with Scania's Opticruise 12+2 speed transmission, which enables problem-free operation even during difficult tasks. Suppliers of parts and equipment include brands and companies such as Fornal, MTM Tech, Kobit, Schmidt, Palfinger and VS Mont.
